“Hate It or Love It” is the second official (third overall) single from rapper The Game’s debut album, The Documentary. The song was blocked from the #1 position on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart by The Game’s fellow G-Unit member at the time, 50 Cent (who is also featured in this song), with his song “Candy Shop” (featuring Olivia).

Mary J. Blige covers the song on the single “MJB Da MVP” from her multi-platinum album The Breakthrough, with 50 Cent rapping his chorus line and Blige continuing with an altered version of The Game’s original line. The Game is featured on the remix of the song. This is the second official remix.

I’m sure you read his stories as a child, but maybe you’ve never heard his music. I wish i knew him! Jack of all trades. What a great grandfather he must have made…

Sheldon Alan Silverstein, better known as Shel Silverstein (September 25, 1930 – May 10, 1999), was an American poet, singer-songwriter, musician, composer, cartoonist, screenwriter, and author of children’s books. He sometimes styled himself as Uncle Shelby, especially for his early children’s books.
Silverstein confirmed that he never studied the poetry of others and therefore developed his own quirky style: laid-back and conversational, occasionally employing profanity and slang.

Silverstein’s passion for music was clear early on as he studied briefly at Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. His musical output included a large catalog of songs; a great number of which were hits for other artists – most notably the rock & roll group Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show (later shortened to just Dr. Hook).

Johnny Cash - Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream
0:00 / 0:00

Johnny Cash was an American singer-songwriter, actor, and author, who was one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Although he is primarily remembered as a country music artist, his songs and sound spanned many other genres including rockabilly and rock and roll—especially early in his career—as well as blues, folk, and gospel. Late in his career, Cash covered songs by several rock artists, among them the industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails.

Cash was known for his deep, distinctive bass-baritone voice; for the “boom-chicka-boom” freight train sound of his Tennessee Three backing band; for his demeanor; and for his dark clothing, which earned him the nickname “The Man in Black.” He traditionally started his concerts by saying, “Hello, I’m Johnny Cash.”

Much of Cash’s music, especially that of his later career, echoed themes of sorrow, moral tribulation and redemption. His signature songs include “I Walk the Line”, “Folsom Prison Blues”, “Ring of Fire”, “Get Rhythm” and “Man in Black”. He also recorded humorous numbers, such as “One Piece at a Time” and “A Boy Named Sue”, a duet with future wife June Carter called “Jackson”, as well as railroad songs including “Hey Porter” and “Rock Island Line”.

Janelle Monae - Mr. President
0:00 / 0:00

Janelle Monáe, a Kansas City, Kansas native, moved to New York to study theatre at the American Musical Academy. Her original plan was to pursue a career on Broadway, but she soon changed her mind and returned to her love for music, an art form which, according to her, has the potential to change the world. Moving to Atlanta, GA, where she met OutKast’s Big Boi, Monáe founded the Wondaland Arts Society with like-minded young artists and made a couple of appearances on Idlewild, where she is featured on the songs “Call The Law” and “In Your Dreams.”

By mid-2007, Monáe was ready to release her first solo album, entitled Metropolis. It was originally conceived as a concept album in four parts, or “suites,” which were to be released only through her website and mp3 download sites. These plans were altered upon her signing with Sean “Diddy” Combs’ label, Bad Boy Records, in late 2007. The label gave an official and material release to Metropolis: The Chase Suite (Special Edition) in August 2008. The album was generally well-received by critics, garnering Monáe a 2009 Grammy nomination in the Best Urban/Alternative Performance for her song “Many Moons” , festival appearances and opening slots for the indie pop band Of Montreal.

Monáe also toured as the opening act for band No Doubt on their summer tour. Her latest single, “Open Happiness,” was featured in the 2009 season finale of American Idol.

In a November 2009 interview, Monáe revealed the title and concept behind her upcoming album, The Arch Android. The second and third suites of “Metropolis” will be combined into this full-length release, in which Cindi Mayweather—also the protagonist of Metropolis: The Chase Suite—will become a messiah-esque figure to the android community of Metropolis.

Victoria Christina Hesketh (born 4 May 1984), also known by her stage name/pseudonym Little Boots, is an English electropop singer–songwriter. Her nickname was given to her by a friend, and is a reference to the fact that she has small feet. As a musician Little Boots sings and plays the keyboard, piano, stylophone and a Japanese electronic instrument called Tenori-on.

After a return to college to focus on her studies, Hesketh along with two of her fellow students formed the indie pop/electronic band Dead Disco. The band had limited releases of two their singles but due to increasingly different ideas about the band’s musical direction Hesketh left to pursue a solo career.

Hesketh has cited as influences Captain Beefheart, Britney Spears, The Human League, Gary Numan, Pink Floyd, Jean Michel Jarre and Kraftwerk.

Hesketh began writing her own songs and posting covers on the social networking sites such as YouTube and MySpace. After appearing on several shows including Later… with Jools Holland and Last Call with Carson Daly, Hesketh entered production on her debut album Hands. With increasing media attention regarding her then-yet-to-be-released debut album, Hesketh topped the BBC Sound of 2009 poll and received a BRIT Critics Choice nomination. With the release of her debut she has become linked to a wave of recent breakthrough female artists in their twenties including Lady Gaga, Ladyhawke, Florence and the Machine and Elly Jackson of La Roux.

Her debut album, Hands, released on the 8 June 2009, peaked at number five on the UK Albums Chart and at number twenty on the Irish Albums Chart. The first single off the album “New in Town” became a top twenty hit, while the next single “Remedy”, produced by RedOne, reached the top ten. She has also released the EP Illuminations in the United States.

Mouth was one of my earliest favorite songs… It came out in 1996 when i was about to go into grade seven. I remember listening to the tape that i had recorded off of Rick-Dee’s Weekly Top 40 radio show over and over again until i managed to get her CD… Well I recently dug out my old CD and relived those memories….. ENJOY!

Merril Bainbridge (born June 2, 1968 in Melbourne, Victoria) is an Australian pop music singer and songwriter. Her debut was the single, “Mouth”, which peaked at number-one for six consecutive weeks in Australia and became a top five hit in the United States.

Bainbridge started performing when she was at the age of nine and her first performance was at a carnival and her sisters persuaded her into entering, because the prize was free carnival tickets. She came third and won twenty dollars worth of tickets. After six years of performing in a variety of bands in Australia, and doing backup vocal work in exchange for studio time, Bainbridge began a solo career under the tutelage of producer Siew. Bainbridge stated that she and Siew “really connected well, from a creative point. I liked the way he worked and I knew I had so much more to learn in that environment [and] that’s how it started. That was the point where I started feeling a lot more confident as a singer and then wanting to dive more into the songwriting side.” She also worked a day job before quitting to concentrate solely on music.
